I think the real question is would Stockfish using NNUE advances fair any better. I bet we will never know. Chess is to low on Google's todo list. :D

I can’t track it down now, but there’s an interview with two AlphaZero developers on YouTube where they raise the white flag vs NNUE and Leela Chess’ great advances. Doesn’t sound like they want to put in the effort to catch up to the state of the art.

Based on multiple simulation tests and other collateral tests, both Leela and Stockfish are estimated to be + 170 to +200 elo stronger than Alpha Zero in TCEC testing conditions. ( Keep in mind, AZ is an extremely basic NN that dont know time managament and can not access Tablebases)
