SlowChess 2.6 problem

Post by Colin-G »

In the past I have tried and failed to run the native linux versions of Slowchess.
I recently installed one of the latest versions of linux, namely Mint 20.1 mate 64bit.
The versions of gcc and g++ are both 9.3 and wine is v5.0
The processor is intel but it does not support avx instructions.
I downloaded the latest versions of Slowchess v2.6
Both of the native linux versions avx and sse fail with the message
"Illegal instruction (core dumped)"
However, the Windows sse version works ok in wine so it does not seem to be a cpu problem.
Any ideas?
