WCCC 2023?

I compared the first game with PlayChess engine games since 2021. Move 8 for black is not in my book. I've been playing all sorts of openings on PlayChess for years, almost every day. My engine always played 8...Nc6. As things progressed, Stoofvlees blundered on move 24. Overall, Caro-Kann is not suitable for ENG games if you want to win. It has nothing to do with risk, you won't win with Black against an equally strong ENGINE opponent with Caro-Kann. My engine draws 99%. And for a draw you have to be able to fight well with Caro-Kann, that's not easy.

The last version of Stoofvlees we got plays 24....Qc7 after 13 seconds. I am using a GTX 1650 GPU which is not very fast.

You are making assumptions about the Deep Sjeng/Stoofvlees-without-GPU that played in the "software" tournament (which should perhaps be renamed the CPU tournament, as saying that everyone gets equal hardware when you provide an AMD 3700X and a NVIDIA GT710 is quite misleading) before having access to the facts

Clearly not having access to a (real) GPU severely handicapped the engine but it is much stronger than you're implying, as will be clear when the rating lists get it next week.

That is pretty poor, they should have provided a better GPU than that to give some measure of parity for any primarily GPU engines that would compete.
