New FCP-Tourney in preparation, 41.000 x 45 min. games on i9, 5Ghz!

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

after a private move I had a lot to do in the last weeks.
With more time I have the idea to organize a new FCP-Tourney.

A lot of interesting engine updates since January 01st 2021 are available for us.
http://www.amateurschach.de/main/_engines.htm

At first, many thanks to all the programmers!!
Very sure, we will see a new interesting tourney with many improved engines.
Different engines will be new for me (DanaSah, Berserk, Clover, the last Toga, Minic, the last Fire etc.).

I have to thinking about the organisation and I am happy if others will give me hints for new ideas!

Later ...

Best
Frank

PS: A good tourney name is: FCP Tourney-2021 SE (SE for Special Edition)

You should use the strongest Toga: Dark Toga 1.1.
Fat Titz by Stockfish, the engine with the bodaciously big net. Remember: size matters. If you want to learn more about this engine just google for "Fat Titz".

Hi there,

OK, I will have a look in Dark Toga 1.1 (found it).
BitGenie and Drofa are also good tips, not in my brain before.
I will checked that all and will have a look again in Mr. Bob.

Engines should have around Vajolet2 2.8 level (~ 3.000 Elo).
After a short look is around 3000 Elo the last place 41.

It's not to believe that 40 engines are stronger as 3000 Elo (own FCP-Tourney calculation if Shredder 13 = 3125 Elo).

Thank you!!

I will start with the organisation next weekend.
I have to install all the new engines since January 2021.
Tourney organisation need 2-3 weeks.

Hi there,

I added Bit-Genie (from Oman, hope this is right) and Drofa, Link to Dark-Toga in my engine selection.

Really a lot to test before the tourney can start.

Best and again thanks to the programmer of Koivisto for the tips.

Hi there,

at the moment I am thinking about the new tourney.

An other idea is to start a new rating-list system with two League-systems.

League 1: 21 Engines
League 2: 21 Engines

I can use three i9 systems (In additional with two Dell i9-11900h Notebooks and max. 4.5Ghz power). So I can config the i9-10900k PC with 4.5Ghz (underclooking to standard 4.9Ghz Asus KI settings) and all three systems runs around with the same power.

With other words I have 26 i9-cores!
2x 8 from the two Dell Notebook i9-11900h systems.
1x 10 from my PC with i9-10900k system.

Can be interesting I think and I have in the future time for it to do that work.

Time-Control for the rating-list system will be 40 moves in 8 minutes (30 minutes per game) without ponder and 5-pieces.
Here I will try out the resign-mode (in the past all the games I produced are without resign-mode - games ended with draw or mate).

1.000 games per day can be play with that rules and the 26 i9-cores!
26 strong cores are enough for a rating-list system with TOP-40 engines!

Alternative the new tournament but with 26 cores. The three system need for 41.000 games with 40 moves in 12 minutes around 45 days.
So I am not sure for the moment what I do in detail.

I will start with the rating-list system or the new tourney start of October 2021 / end of September 2021.
At the moment I am in thinking mode ...

Best
