analysis of game

Post by carlone »

What is the best way to analyze a game and to score the correctness of the game, for example by adding the spread between the move and those provided by an engine.

Tips, tools?

thanks very much

Will you explain more about this "adding the spread between the move and those provided by an engine."

I think he means the "score difference between the move actually played and the best move by a top engine"

Some years ago, I used the nice tool "ChessGameReport" compile and doc at the end of the first post here http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforu ... ?tid=16085 .
Run it, it's a windows where one can enter the PGN file, engine path and output report (txt).

Latest compile here : http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforu ... #pid236452

I believe the best way to analyze a game is to load that game in a gui and do infinite analysis with strong engines one running with multi pv, the second running to show the threats and the third running the normal infinite analysis. The user has to explore different positions depending on what he wants to achieve, could be complicated lines that the user can handle or simple positions but with clear plans to follow or trying to attack opponent's king with material sacrifices and other themes.
