I just tried it again and the file is no good.
no indication of a pop up for a password. I believe this was compressed wrong with the password implmentation.
Here is the file that is left after i extracted it:
CompMaster_Beta_1.0 no extension either?
Just put the file compressed without a password. It makes life much easier
I got the same result, when I try to extract it regardless with password or without a password, if the file is encrypted then not with 'compmaster', the resultfile is a .0 file so something went wrong I'm afraid. Or did somebody succeed in extracting it with winRAR?
Eelco
I tryed with winrar. It did not work for me either.
Gerold.
Hi Gerold,
Maybe just try the download again. I downloaded the compmasterfile a second time and this time I got a good copy I think, I was able to view all files in WinRAR after being asked for a password, 'compmaster' was accepted. This is the .png with the booksettings:
if you rename the file output CompMaster_Beta_1.0 for CompMaster_Beta_1.0.7z
Now try to open with 7-zip you will see 5 files and if you will try to extract them will be asked for the password.
Will also work WinRar with the option extract files and will prompt for the password.
Strange as I get no problems with link I posted, but here is another download link to the same book which has been provided for those having problems which hopefully you will have more success with:

Rgarding the size, although it is 74Mb it is only made from 59,719 games. The reason it is a big file is that it is 50 moves deep.
Why would anyone want such a deep book? What is the use of even having the engine?
If the lines are excellent taken from GM play they could be useful in analysis and preparation in human tournaments or correspondence play.
However, for computer vs computer that seems a bit high but if the lines are top notch they could help win major computer tournaments as well.
I do agree in the latter case you might see less engine play but then again it might not make a huge difference unless both machines were using the same book as the shallow book will most likely deviate early.

Very true.

That's my point. Theoretically I could lose against a 1000 Elo engine without it ever playing a move in a real tournament. That's the problem with allowing limitless books controlled by the GUI in tournaments. I hope none of this happens in the WCRCC coming up, because I have a very small book.

I hope that's the case.
Zach, Oxygen has the best book I have encountered so far.. The engine is supposed to be much weaker than Romi yet it manages to beat Romi every single time because of a better book. I guess you should ask Robindu if you can use his book, you wouldnt have much of a problem using a polygoat book.
