I hope you'll consider adding timed levels some time later, though. Perhaps in a special "professional" version? For me, it is the single most important feature, and without it I'm never going to use Shredder at all.
I am sorry, Tord. If there is demand we will certainly make a "Pro" version with the usual stuff.
Did you find the Analysis Mode in Shredder for iPhone? This is the most important "Pro" feature for me.
IMO no matter WHICH hardware you choose, time controls are important. as i told you i am e.g. missing 3' average on the java version for my motorola rokr z6.
if it is boring and you sit in train or somewhere else (at work e.g.)
then you maybe really want to setup up a serious time control and not a fun level.
I play 5 minute games against my own program almost every day, by the way.
Are you insane?
Well, maybe just one game per day on average. Does that still make me insane?
PS: Of course I also have Glaurung for the iPhone. It is great, thanks for making it free, but I certainly would also have bought it.
I'm glad you like it! I have nothing against spending a little money on Shredder either. Even if I won't use it that much (but I'll keep hoping for a special version for insane computer chess geeks), you deserve the support.
If I sent Shredder iPod to ELO 2400 how much time is that exactly? How does the computer decide it is playing at maximum power? Maximum power to a computer would Time=Infinity... I don't mind waiting for the computer to move, but there has to be reasonable time limits. In addition, how can I play against the computer and know both players have the same time controls? i.e. how do I set the software for an Action 30 10 game? I think we need both ELO and Time settings for the consumer.
