I have tried the demo of Shredder 3 Classic Linux under Ubuntu and it run without problems. Nevertheless I abstained from buying it because the Deep Shredder 11 UCI (for Windows) is running fine at me with Linux (Ubuntu) under wine.

I realise that I am only a guest in the house of Linux, so I ought to stop moaning and sit quickly; just don't be surprised if I suddenly depart through one of the windows.
Linux by itself can provide really simple installers (e.g. a point and click deb package under Ubuntu or by using one of several open source packaging frameworks) . If Stefan released a Ubuntu deb package for instance, it really will be just a point and click install. However, due to the large numbers of linux distributions, the old approach of uncompressing a file, executing the installer, and then running the program is used. As a result, customers have to do more fiddling with the installation.
Using/Installing the sun jdk and doing the extract and execute should probably work on ubuntu, if it does not, it might be a minor issue.
