I have a short absence now of 1-2 hours. Steve, if you could tell Bob after he's awake, the thing could also start without me. Otherwise after the break I am here again. Thanks Rolf

Vas may have understood that he and Bob are to argue as a team (partners) against the forum or someone.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

The truth is different.

Vas accepted the idea in general and waited for the start now

BUT

unfortunately I must inform you that Bob has not 20 0r 15 minute time to spend for such an event here on CCC.

I feared that he had classes and he confirmed me that it's really hard work with examinations etc.

So, although I'm very sad I must renounce the whole idea and inform Vas about that.

There is a minimal chance because I have offered Bob a date tonight at midnight European time, but that is the utmost what we could expect from Vas. I dont even know if he had time at that late occasion.

But let's keep in mind. Like I always suspected, Vas is totally open to have such a talk but then he's the only one.

As the hopeful organiser I cant give all the informations but there are also other reasons why the event could never take place. But I'll leave that aside for not skipping everything with perhaps a new date after Bob has ended his work around Dec 15th.

Thanks for the interest especially to Steve,

Rolf

Fair enough but I still doubt that this meeting will take place here....

You can paint it in that light. But We are in the last 2 days of regular classes with final exams starting later in the week. I was out of my office until about 11:00, was back for about 15 minutes, was out again until about 12:45, had a class at 1:00-2:15, and am just getting back from that. I have student appointments the rest of the day. So taking a 30+ minute time-out at some random point in time is not possible. At some pre-planned (at least a day in advance) time, I could participate, although as I mentioned, having just myself and Vas is not the best way to resolve the issues since several others did the actual leg-work to do the comparisons, and they should be able to speak for themselves when discussing their approach and what they found, rather than going thru a third party (myself).

But don't try to set up something on the spur of the moment for this week or next week, things are quite busy here. After next Saturday (Dec 12) when we leave graduation around 6pm, my schedule will be more flexible for a couple of weeks, although I am sure my wife will have plans for part of my time as well.

Bob,

sorry for any inconveniences for you - it's all me who caused this.

And I dont really want to take a side here because I still have hope that you might understand what this is all about.

It wont happen, at least not with my support, that you with three other mousquetiers catch Vas in a private cout trial. No way. It was never here about such an in depth trial. And for all not with that distribution. With people who have prejudiced Vas right from the start.

What I tried was something else. I wanted to see two Americans meeting each other and talking. Just like Obama talked to Bush or McCain. What normally is unthinkable for people from outside.

I wanted to see this common sense and humanism and not a debate or not to speak of a war between two fabulous guys.

So IMO either you will talk on your own with Vas or not but there wont be anything else. Because it would be unfair.

In 20 minutes it's anyway almost impossible to make a clear case. Mainly I wanted to see what Vas would say to you. What you say is already known by many messages.

I hope I had NOT painted your situation in a false light because your profession is important since it's the base for your living. Having said that I would have tought that you would grant other people's living the same caution and respect. I hope that the readers can virtually (sic!) see the difference in tone if you are talking about yourself and if you are making verdicts about others.

Also, you have proven to me so oftenly that you are always ready to talk, that I would never outplay you with your classes. You must not prove anything to me. But again this was not about a seminary like court trial but a show with human touch. Crucify me if that was too difficult to understand.

Perhaps we can repeat the debate anytime in future. But let's not wait for too long since we are 30 years older than Vas.
