Which is GMT+1.

So we're playing from 11 PM to 6 AM CET i just read?

Which is an amazing development as both FICS as well as ICC used
to be hosted in Pittsburg and both had for quite a while New York time
which is CET-6

That's really not in the interest of the majority and the last Australian/New Zealandian programmers also have left the 'ship' of computerchess a long while ago regrettably.

No, 2200 PST time is 0700 CET (Or GMT+1).

I will make the changes to the website to only reflect the GMT+1 times.
Also the correct date please, as in Europe we're not so good in English, except for some bizarre island where they keep stubbornly driving on the left!

Thanks,
Vincent

Round Times:

Legend 24 Hr Clock: UTC+1 Time

Saturday: 0700 0900 1100 1300 1500
Sunday: 0700 0900 1100 1300
Blitz Tournament to follow regular event (Click on link to left for information)
Please be sure to check for time zone differences!

FICS "Date" Command is PST, which is -9 hours to GMT/UTC+1. So for those in MST time zone (like me), you would actually start playing Friday February 19, at 2300hrs. For those in the PST time zone, you would start on Friday February 19, at 2200hrs. Those in the Eastern Time Zone would start on February 20, at 0100hrs. (1 am, not 1 pm)

Better?

PST is CET-9,

Pacific time is 9 hours behind me.
So we are ahead of you, please realize this.

You're not running ahead of Europe in Canada.

Europe is ahead of USA/Canada.

So 7 AM pacific time is 4 PM CET saturday, which is a lot better than 11 PM for the first round :)

Thanks,
Vincent

Surely, everyone can follow that now.

The rounds times shown are in UTC+1. Not PST.

So while you start on February 20 at 0700, I will have to be there on February 19 at 2300. (I live in MST, so UTC-8).

I am BEHIND the time zone for the start times. You get to wake up bright and early to play, while I have to stay up all night to be there.

Clear now?

Ok i googled, UTC+1 == CET, central european time.

So we start at 7 AM CET at saturday, do i say it correct now?

So the yanks living in new york have to start at 1 AM and those in Seattle at friday 10 PM.

Do i say it correct like this?

I see now why the email you shipped was confusing, even though juridical spoken it is correct :)

God this is too early for me.

Yes. CET = GMT/UTC +1

Yes, that is correct.

Since we switch time zones every year to be fair to those in Europe/NZ, it is North Americas' turn to stay up all night.

I would gladly switch everything to FICS' PST time zone to make it easier to understand, but then you would have to stay up all night to play :)

If you really wanted to be clear about the time you would have just given the time in UTC/GMT without the confusing +1 factor. Next time you could give the start times in Nepal time if you really want to confuse everyone.

For those interested, the tournament in Kathmandu starts at 11:45 am, Saturday.

PS: They are UTC+5:45
