All games less than 14 moves long have been removed from our database and the pgn files for Onno 1.0 games are now correct.
Games less than 14 moves long will also be removed from the database for tomorrow's 40/4 update.
Hi Graham,

Good to hear that.

Btw, I want to let you know that I wasn't sleuthing your database looking for errors. I just happened to come across the errors while testing updates to my 40H PGN utilities.

Norm - your input is always appreciated. If anybody comes across errors or anomalies in our database, it is only right for us to correct them as able. :)

Hi Graham,

This is a very recent game and it has the wrong result. Fortunately it is the only game having this type of error.

Probably someone "adjudicated" for White winning not realizing that White would commit an atrocious blunder.

Probably one of my games. Sjakk games are often recorded was a win for the wrong side and this is the one I was bound to miss editing.
Thanks - will try and get it corrected for next weekend's update.

Editing a buggy engine? Imho, buggy engines have no place in a ratings database.

On another issue, here is a table that suggests possible indiscriminate adjudication of draws for some long games. The table shows the length of games by half-moves (plies).

Code: Select all

Number of games with different lengths:
 27: 77, 28: 86, 29: 88, 30: 88, 31: 139, 32: 115
