That is not very interesting to have all that in a Rating List more times!
I agree. Too many variants released in such a short timeframe will devalue the project (IMHO), not something I'd like to see.

I’ve done a little test with Toga IV on two pretty identical notebooks at tournament time control. The games were very entertaining to watch.

First game is pretty straight-forward. Toga had a tiny edge out of the opening that it converted. One of these games where chess looks so easy. In German you’d say that „Schwarz wurde zusammengeschoben“ – not easy to phrase in English.

The second game was pretty amazing because of Toga’s highly unusual maneuver 10. …Nh5 followed by 11… Bh4 in a well-known Najdorf line, that looked completely counterintuitive to me. Crafty followed up with normal moves and liked itself. After some time the advantages of Bh4 became easier to understand – still a tough and very complicated game.

Two very nice games IMHO – so if you’d like to have a look the PGN follows.

Toga played well obviously – at times it got stuck at very low depths though (like 16 or so, see the PGN).

A little wish for future releases: no one needs .7z-files these days , a dead format that is a pain to extract if you are not a geek.

each day a new Toga!
I admit, I am bit overeager for my age :D
Not easy to keep things in perspective!
Alright, here is the perspective:

Use Rebel 14.2 for SP testing
Use Toga for MP testing.
So what's CSTal-NNUE 1.26 then? (no. 5 on the gambit rating list)
Private version (for the moment) from Chris.

I agree. Too many variants released in such a short timeframe will devalue the project (IMHO), not something I'd like to see.

Here is a one time response to your allegations, mud throwing and your always without exception outburst of negativity.

A chess program consists of 2 parts:

1. Evaluation (the heart of every engine)
2. The search that guides the evaluation through the tree.

I ripped out the heart of Toga, replacing it with the Rebel / Benjamin evaluation. What's left and not replaced yet is the search, but already significant chances are made with Rebel / ProDeo goodies and this will continue and continue by my regained fun (since 2003) for chess programming, initiated by the magic of NNUE.

I am basically doing what Stockfish has done in the past, they took Glaurung as a base and started to improve it calling it Stockfish. As such they obliged themselves to 1) always mention the origin, 2) the author (Tord), 3) release their work under the GPL license.

So Vernon, tell me, do you have a problem with the name Stockfish?

You should to be consistent.

Thx for the kindergarten education, but I think everyone here (older than 9) understands that already.

Rebel / ProDeo goodies? Have you added parts of Rebel/ProDeo to Fruit/TOGA IV with Rebel 14.2 NNUE evaluation?
Which parts explicitly? I'd like to check it out.

There's no comparison...SF did not release 9 different version of Glaurung, Fruit, Toga, etc. by simply adding CW's NNUE implementation, and renaming them all with a recognizable commercial brand name or some variation thereof.

It wasn’t possible or worthwhile in the pre-NNUE days. Until you’ve had a chance to compare the playing style of those various nets, it’s probably best just to stay silent (which is why I’ve got you on mute most times).
Fat Titz by Stockfish, the engine with the bodaciously big net. Remember: size matters. If you want to learn more about this engine just google for "Fat Titz".

Two more games with same conditions. And two more interesting pawn sacrifices.

First games featured 7. Nbd2 in a Catalan main line that was news to me being no expert on this opening – this has been played before and Black should probably be able to equalize according to mighty engines. Crafty chose a line that looked a bit risky against this set-up, but at one point seemed to come very close to uentangle itself and remain a pawn up. Just an illusion as Toga demonstrated.

Second game featured a mainline of the Anti-Marshall that should be very drawish in principle. Toga chose a very unusual way to deal with this with 12. … Nfd7 where at first sight only white can have an ever so tiny edge because of the e4,d6 centre. Then the pawn sacrifice 24. … c4 that worked out very nicely

Two games that again were very entertaining and fun to watch – and so it is Toga IV 1.1. – Crafty 25.3 4-0 now.

4 more games with same conditions. The slow time control probably helps Toga to some extent as it sometimes needs a little time to reach sufficient search depth.
Game 5 is just something to watch – a complete strangle, Capablanca-like.
Game 6 featured a very complicated B45 opening line that I remembered from the past. It would have been interesting to see what Toga would have done after Kasparov’s 14. g5 that used to be considered leading to an advantage for white, but Crafty played 14. Kf1 from its opening book which I guess led to instant equality. No idea about the insane tactics afterwards, as I didn’t want to check with other engines. It looked nice and easy enough for Toga.
Game 7 was slaughterhouse in a Catalan-like Queen’s Indian line – probably 11. ..f6 was already enough of a blunder by Crafty to not be able to survive- very quick and easy win for Toga.
Then game 8 – OK, this one REALLY looked easy.
As it is Toga IV 1.1 – Crafty 25.3 8-0 now I decided to stop the match. I had fun, but this is clearly not an interesting challenge for Toga, I have to think of something else.
Personally I really liked Toga’s style in all the games.
