Hi to all.

Now, the first game against Stockfish, taking the e7 pawn.
A draw.

I think I was playing quite well, but I missed 12... b5
I was not worried, because I thought that my queenside majority would decide the game.
From Stockfish's evaluation, I see that my decisive mistake was 13. d5
I am not sure what I should have played instead, I will analyze it later.
After that, it is a dead draw (of course, I did not know that during the game).
I missed 26... Qg2, which in this position did not have any negative consequences... but in an even game, such an oversight is fatal.

Hi.

Now, the game against Berserk, taking the f7 pawn.
A win for me.

I had to play carefully, but the game itself was not difficult.
After I got two passed pawns with 21. c6, I was sure about the win.
But even before I felt confident.

Hi.

Now, the game against Crafty, removing the g7 pawn.
A win for me.

I got a big scare when Crafty played 17... Kg7, and thought that I had just blundered the win away.
But then I realized that I am not forced to capture with gh7, and that my h5 pawn is actually under no threat (the Black king must remain inside the square of the g6 pawn). I can simply leave the kingside pawns where they are.
Oh, I still do not find the way to keep Crafty from resigning. This time, I set resign = 327.67

Hi.

Now, the first game against Komodo, taking the h7 pawn (I incorrectly announced, in my previous post, that this game was against Lc0).
A draw.

I think my setup was not very good, allowing Komodo to have a pawn majority, which ties my king down.
During the game, I thought that it was a dead draw after 19... dc3, and made the last moves just for fun (¿perhaps I discover a bug in Komodo?).
I see that Komodo still gives me a large advantage after that move.
When I saw it, I thought first that Komodo was simply misevaluating the position.
Now I see that I might have had some winning chances.
I did not consider going with my king to the g-file, under the wrong assumption that I would lose (Komodo promotes a queenside pawn). However, I see now that I could have promoted a queenside pawn of my own immediately after. I would be two pawns up... worth playing out.
But I did not see any of this during the game: in my mind, it was impossible for my king to go to the g-file.

Hi.

Now, the first game against Lc0, taking the a7 pawn.
A draw.

Of course, I saw that the queenside would get almost closed, but intended to break through the kingside.
After 11. b4, I thought that Lc0 could not go after my c3 pawn, since my b pawn queens first.
But I missed that my new queen simply does not have enough space to deliver checks and force Black's king into c1.
Somehow, I feel that I missed a simple winning plan.

Hi.

Now, the game against Stockfish, taking the b7 pawn.
A win for me.

Actually, I think this was a nice game.
Nothing spectacular, I was just rewarded for being patient. Trying to create a passed pawn, but without rushing. And keeping Black's possible counterplay to a minimum.
When Stockfish began giving pawns up with 16... g5, I felt sure about the win.

Hi.

Now, the game against Berserk, taking the c7 pawn.
A win for me.

I had to play carefully (as is always the case when facing an engine), but the game was quite straightforward.
I tried to create a passed pawn on the queenside. But when Berserk gave the chance to create a distant passed pawn on the kingside, I took it.

Hi.

Now, the game against Crafty, taking the d7 pawn.
A win for me.

Last things first. Crafty resigned; I take the point mostly because the final position is an easy win for me. But I would certainly prefer to play these challenges till mate.
I have not found a way to prevent Crafty from resigning.
This time, I sent the command:
computer
I understood that Crafty would not resign against computers.
But obviously it did not work the way I intended.

About the game, I liked my move 18. a4, keeping the Queenside closed to an eventual Black King's invasion.
Ok, I think it was not necessary, since I would promote a pawn in the Kingside long before Crafty could invade the Queenside, capture one of my pawns, and then promote one of its own. But it is a nice maneuver to know and actually play.

Hi.

Now, the game against Komodo, taking the e7 pawn.
A win for me.

From moves 9 to 13, I had the chance to get a protected passed pawn with d5; which most likely is also winning.
But I think the plan I chose is much simpler. Try to get the passed pawn away from the kingside, on the c-file instead of the d-file.
Also, I think now that 21. Kd5 (in order to get the passed pawn on the b-file) was simpler than 21. c6 (protected passed pawn on the c-file).
But both choices win, of course.

Hi.

Now, the game against Lc0, taking the f7 pawn.
A win for me.

Lc0 took what I think is the best defensive setup: three pawn islands, the pawn majority in the center island.
I had to make a few precise moves. When I made 13. d5, I had to be completely sure that I kept at least the same amount of reserve tempi as Lc0. Not very difficult in this particular position, but in general there is always room for some subtleties.
