oppss ¡ and Is it not posible use the games that was used for do perfect 15 and 14 and DO a new BETTER book for ARENA CHESS GUI ?
arena chess gui is FREE and good. bye.
Making a decent opening book under the Arena GUI is a suicide task because you have to do almost everything manualy, that's why there is no good opening book available yet....don't get excited by some authors who claims that their book is the superior one and makes advertisement all the time,it was recently when I discovered a big amount of very bad opening lines in the pgn of a well known tester here using such an opening book....
Never the less,I can claim proudly that I found a method two years ago to make a good opening book under the Arena GUI and my book is still private,it's caleed iDeed_Script.abk and I use it frequently in my tournaments for the bookless engines....
Sadly,I will not release it because of people like pichy who makes personal attacks without obvious reason....
_No one can hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward….
- Same GUI.
- Same Quad 6700 computer
- Same ponder-off
- 25 minutes per game (previous test 10 minutes)
- All programmes with Perfect14 book. (Previous each program with its own book)
- I have included Zappa Mexico II instead of Zappa Mexico.
Naum4(x4)-2 2008
Naum 4(x4) - Deep Fritz 10 8.0 - 2.0 +6/-0/=4 80.00%
Naum 4(x4) - Deep Hiarcs 12 6.5 - 3.5 +3/-0/=7 65.00%
Naum 4(x4) - Rybka 3 32-bit (x4) 4.5 - 5.5 +1/-2/=7 45.00%
Naum 4(x4) - Toga II 1.4.1SE6 6.5 - 3.5 +4/-1/=5 65.00%
Naum 4(x4) - Zappa Mexico II 5.0 - 5.0 +2/-2/=6 50.00%
My feelings:
- Perfect14 is important in terms of performance. Better than any other book. (I have not tested Perfect15).
- Naum4 is a fantastic program, not far from Rybka3. Only 4 losses in 50 games against such strong set of engines.

I decided to test again Naum4 now with Perfect15 book against three strong opponents. The results have been again very good. Naum 4 won the tournament in a very tight ending with Rybka3.
The other difference was the timing. Now 25 minutes per game instead of 10. And one of the opponents was Deep Fritz 11 instead of Deep Fritz10.
GUI: Deep Fritz 11
Time: 25 minutes per game.
Quad 6700
Ponder: Off.
All engines with own book, except Naum4 using Perfect15.
No tablebases.
At longer time controls Rybka 3 plays better is you adjust the contempt from default 15 to around 0. The longer the time control the less the contempt should be.
