I allready have my name on the latest one. :)

I haven't seen any games posted on the latest one
in a couple days maybe its not as good as some say.

Best.

Gerold.

P.S. I have a little more time now maybe i will test it
at a good time control and see just how good it is.

I am a bit nervous of recommending that site as I don't know much about it.
Martin, if you are refering to this link, http://homepages.tesco.net/henry.ablett/jims.html ,
then don't worry. Jim Ablett is a well respected member of the
computer chess community.

Here are some other legitimate, not to mention well respected, sites
to find chess engines are:

http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/html/lastupdates.htm Leo Dijksman
http://www.rwbc-chess.de/wb_chron.htm Guenther Simon
http://cap.connx.com/ Dann Corbit
http://computer-chess.org/doku.php?id=c ... ngine_list Ron Murawski
http://www.playwitharena.com/directory/engines.htm Michael Diosi
Thanks for this long list of interesting legitimate chess engine sites. I am always a wary of downloading unknown executables. There are too many dodgy websites and insecure OSs about these days. I am not keen to accidentally download a Trojan or any other malware. And you have to admit that StockFish looks too good to be true! I will go get it.

Thanks!!!!
You are welcome :D

The balance of power is shifted already and no one can do a damn thing about it....
Gentlemen, whether you like it or not,the new computer chess era has just started and Rybka will not be the dominating player in it....it will have to struggle along with new players....
Will it be up to the task :?: ....only time will tell....

P.S.As the current mutant is around 60 Elo stronger than SP Rybka 3,Rybka 4 SP must be at least a 100 Elo improvement over Rybka 3 SP and that will give it a short timed gap because the mutant, and God knows what other creatures,is going to improve also....it's an open source IIRC :P

Survival of the fittest. This clone word is used out of context.I prefer the term Hybrid. If it doesn't kill you, can only make you stronger.

If you hear on several radio stations that a tsunami has devastated a country, will you wait to see the pictures on TV before you actually believe it?

It's more like a venereal disease for which a cure has yet to be developed (imagining those who produce illegal clones running around like a certain anatomical part that has grown legs).

Good analogy I have to admit but it seems that the cases are a little bit different in nature

Oh NO!
I wanted to get the Rybka 4, best verion (mp?) but only because nothing else would come remotely close to even within 100 elo of it for a long time, AND because it would cost $50-70, the most.
$125, I will not wish to pay.
