Maybe not. Perhaps it escaped and got renamed.
This is something that I considered as well. Frustrated by not being able to distribute Rybka 3+ through ChessOK and Chessbase he may have leaked it anonymously.

As for the source code, perhaps he was just tired of having no threatening competition and thought he could anonymously raise the stakes by putting out the R3+ code out there in hopes that a strong competitor would arise, something to give Vas the energy and incentive to improve his engine further.
This makes sense to me. It achieved a lot of things. Besides from the one mentioned in the quoted post, one of those things is that this is a good marketing strategy also.

I also think that this thing may be just another experimental version, a search like that of a tactical engine personality and a stripped down eval or an experimental eval as well. IIRC in one of the interviews the author admitted that he had rewritten the eval a few times after the last public version, these might be one of those eval that was scrapped.

Nope, makes no sense to me....more like Hollywood scenario for a conspiracy film....
It makes no sense for the simple fact that even if he threw a scrapped version of the new rewritten Rybka,it would still harm him as it becomes a starting point for heavy developement by many programmers and I can send you to a site with an author doing exactly this and regardless of his reputation,he is talented and consistant....he apply logik in his work
Oh God,one thing is for sure....Vasik is probably reading all of this with an ironic smile on his face....or maybe not....who knows :?: :?:

Makes sense to me. Yes, it reminds me of that time when Kasparov, tired of winning all the time, published his secret analysis so his competition could catch up. Another famous parallel was when Microsoft made their Windows code open source because of the excess in profits.

I am not advertising him or his work, but he did developed Toga and rised it to a higher places in the rating lists with Cyclone and that is a fact....

I can't program,hell yes,but Norman....I am not so sure....

So when you reach the top and stay there long enough, you get bored and start to throw your both sides buttered bread at the competition just for fun,is that right :!: :?:

The regular "updates" or downdate as one top programmer privately told me ;-) are because he is pissed. Pissed in the annoyed sense of the word....

I only watch him for amusement now. It is quite funny. He should concentrate on Demon (or whatever he wants to change its name to again).
I am not advertising him or his work, but he did developed Toga and rised it to a higher places in the rating lists with Cyclone and that is a fact....
He rose nothing. He comes from the same school as you. That is the one that shouts a lot and in reality has zero.
I can't program,hell yes,but Norman....I am not so sure....
Be sure. Doctor's get trained. Trust me.......I am a trainer.

Go,check the IP address, the account was created on 29 March,I don't know if it's realy coming from Pakistan, but it's certainly not coming from Jordan....

Norman is worthless. A man let way too near a compiler. That sums him up. Nasir? Who is that? Is that the Suez guy?

Obviously you have no idea what I am talking about. One thing is for sure, I will not be measuring myself against your tiny little self.

Why such big explanations of everything? That thread is down there now.

Feeling guilty? Keep talking.......I'm all ears. I like it when the scared start spouting rubbish. Keep it up....it is Normanesk.......
