Re: Marc Lacrosse is dead
Just was pointed to this sad news. I am shocked. Marc was someone who with very little time did do very effective work. That is a quality not many posses. Computerchess lost a very valuable person.

Re: Marc Lacrosse is dead
It really made me sad yesterday to hear of Marc's death. Another member of the not so large computer chess community, we can not talk to him anymore. That is not entirely true. We can tell him what he meant just for our small circle of computerchess friends but he will not answer back, give his opinion or offer his help, not on the screens we place our messages. But for his family the loss is much larger.
Both he and his wife were medical doctors, but that did not make any difference when Marc had a heart attack. How fragile a life can be inspite of all your knowledge, and how knowing or talking about what happened in medical terms really makes no difference whatsoever. And maybe that also is not true, because the emotions just get carried on underneath any factual recounting and hopefully sort themselves out.
No warning. And yet Marc had just started to build his new website and seemed full of plans to collect all his computerchess insights and all his book making expertise there. And now it is just like a new home that nobody will live in. But it is also like a testament, something he left to us, to remember him by. We can visit his spirit there, still.
My condolences to his family, and especially his two sons who probably are still very young. To carry on the torch, it is up to them. I am sure that they can.

So I assume that he was relatively young....anything between 40-50 years oldDr.Wael Deeb wrote:Vinvin wrote:It was an heart attack...
I knew that in August but as there were 2 "Marc Lacrosse" in Belgium :

and as I didn't know who was the one in the CC field, I didn't want to report false bad news ...

I could not find a cause of his death in the certificate. Does anyone know the cause of his untimely death?

Doc,
He's just 48 years old pal. You guessed it right!
The Fruit team will surely miss him too.
(Condolence to the family and friends...
Marc will always be remembered and missed. )

Well,I've at least learned my lessons well at the university....the statistical medical science is essential for any practising doctor....
He was too young and too talented to go away but we can't do nothing about this I assume....

Dear Dr. Deeb,
I saw a picture of Dr. Lacrosse,MD. He was almost totally bald. I suspect that there is a strong history of premature death due to cardiovascular disease in his families. There is a reason for everything in this life. BTW, baldness in men doesn't necessarily correlate with heart disease. There is some evidence though that very early baldness may be associated with adverse cardiac outcomes.
