10 more were allowed to vote by the system voting software
Hi Steve,

How do you know it's a matter of permission? Do you have any news on the matters?

Nobody should complain if they visit the forum so infrequently that they do not know an election is taking place. The election was announced on 9 August and the polls will close on the 27 August: that is long enough to include all members with a modicum of interest in what is going on here.

Steve was alluding to the earlier post by Mark Simpson, whose vote was not accepted even though he has a total of 15 posts, including 3 in the three months prior to the election.

Hi Derek,

I am glad you found your picture again. :) I suppose you are right but what worried me a bit was that in the CSS forum the well known programmer Fritz Reul, from Loop and List fame, pos(t)ed the almost rhetorical sounding question "Existiert das CCC noch?" :( This made me a bit sad, if even the programmers visit here so infrequently that they don't know where to find us anymore and they don't know if we still exist or not, this question may soon take on a whole other meaning! So maybe a question for all the moderators in spe, what can we do to create some more CCC-awareness and of all the benefits of coming here as often as you can! Same for CTF.

Personally, this place is important to me and I really would not know what to do without it if it ceased to exist!

My regards to you, and all people taking a modicum of interest,

Eelco

Hmm interesting. After my post complaining that I couldn't vote, I tried again. This time, I was able to. Maybe the magic number is 15??

Smoke filled room regards.

Or maybe there's simply a bug somewhere in the software (has happened before)

Another thought:
I am (virtually) certain that two days ago there were 955 registered members on CCC - a figure I have quoted several times in this thread. Today the figure is given as 832. What happened to the other 123?

That's the number you gave, and of course I took your word for it. Suppose Steve and others did as well, and I still don't believe you've read it (that) wrong...

And case these numbers is correct, you'r question is a very good one ;)

i am very glad you were able to vote Mark
even if not for me
:P

perhaps all of this discussion has resulted in a more lenient although still mysterious "minimum level of posting activity" requirement?
