Re: Quarter Final Matches
Bobcat 3.25 64-bit and Dirty 5Sep2012 64-bit fought out a 4.0-4.0 draw (+2 =4 -2).
Not sure which engine will go through, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Re: Quarter Final Matches
Yes, maybe we'll see a DiscoCheck vs Dirty final, if Dirty survives the coin flip.jd1 wrote:Discocheck survives! I think it might be the tournament favourite now.Graham Banks wrote:Quarter Final Matches

Actually I Looked at the games of DiscoCheck vs Crafty, and the first one seems to show a strange bug in Crafty:

Besides the fact that DC was too greedy and fell into a trap in the opening, the game eventually became a draw. Instead of going for the perpetual (drawing by 50-move) Crafty chose to reset the 50-move counter by giving a pawn, and then another, and eventually it backfired, as the two rooks are stronger than the queen, and the compact K+P formation eventually made it to promotion.
Perhaps there are some hacks in Crafty to try and avoid drawing to easily, and it backfired there?
Without that mistake Crafty would have won 4.5-3.5
** edit ** maye this 17. Nxe4 was not a bad move. It's hard to say, and I'm not a good enough chess player myself to know whether the resulting imbalanced material was ok for black or not. As it turned out in the game, DiscoCheck proved that it was perfectly playable. I don't know what opening theory says?
Theory and practice sometimes clash. And when that happens, theory loses. Every single time.

Re: Quarter Final Matches
Bison 9.11 64-bit secured a Semi Final berth with a narrow 4.5-3.5 (+4 =1 -3) win over the gallant Philou 3.71 64-bit.

Giant-killing EXchess 6.71b 64-bit hit a brick wall in Chronos 1.9.9 64-bit, going down by 5.0-3.0 (+2 =6 -0).
