build 111 is up:
- fix: the linux file list crash as reported here
- (blind) fix: attempt to fix freeze problem that happens when another window has captured mouse while a modal dialog is being created;
not sure it fixes "THE" bug, but it definitely fixes the following freeze: start dragging a piece and press ctrl-shift-N,
a soft-freeze would happen in older builds
- minor cosmetic change: give more space for engine name in engine info at the bottom

Hi Martin,
I use ELO ratings in the Gui and to keep 700+ engines actual this is to work one's fingers to the bone. Would it be possible to import the ratings from the Ordo rating list? And also an option to sort the installed engines in the tournament dialog to their ratings?
Just an idea from a clueless user :D

Wilhelm

Ordo rating list looks like this

Code: Select all

   1 HYDRA : 3040.4 13.0 3278 72 30 2857.8
   2 Senpai 1.0 : 3005.6 17.4 1630 60 34 2934.3
   3 Pandix 14 : 2998.4 16.8 1640 57 38 2945.3
   4 CM11 Swordfish(Eg) T8/T1 : 2995.2 24.2 776 59 37 2927.3
   5 Hiarcs 14 : 2982.3 17.3 1700 59 35 2918.9
   6 Crafty 25.03 x64 : 2971.3 17.2 1525 55 36 2934.9
   7 Rybka 2.3.2a x64 : 2970.3 17.0 1580 57 39 2922.3

   9 Koivisto 3.0 x64 : 2960.8 17.6 1439 54 35 2934.7

hmm, yes. one of the reasons why didn't want to add elo in the first place :)
also elo can differ from tc to tc, it's only relative etc.

as for sorting, there is a sort button in player engines, but you probably mean sorting in the list you pick from?
importing ordo ratings is quite an ad hoc idea... but it seems to have a similar format to elostat.
I don't remember how bayeselo rating file looks like. would be nice to be able to parse everything at once.

I'll make a note, who knows... no promises

Yes, exactly. So I can quick pick 30 engines of similar strength for a tournament and don't have to fiddle around with the external rating list. I made this since 4 years in Banksia and update the elos around 3 to 5 times a year. Yeah, I'm crazy :D
Thanks that you noted it.

build 112 is up:
- fix: anomaly log is appended to if a tour is loaded instead of being overwritten
- failures to load/start and engine are logged as events in anomaly log
- elo push button in new/edit tour to sort installed engines by elo
- new tool to import ratings from ordo-compatible rating output (tools/import ratings from ordo)

Wow, what should I say, it's realy impressive how fast you work and improve this GUI, like Flash :D
I'm down on my knees
Many thanks!

thank you for the ideas Wilhelm, they made myracle much nicer to use with elo now, those things were missing
(Andres even made a script to download CCRL ratings and convert them to a compatible format so he could match elo to the vast majority
of the installed engines)

in fact, thanks to everybody who participated in this thread for invaluable feedback and help
some ideas didn't make it, some did later, can't please everybody. but I consider every idea

Try to run a handicap match between one strong engine against several weak(er) engines on Linux. The intention is, that the strong engine plays only with the white (handicapped) pieces against all other engines.

I used an opening book with only the one initial position (without-Nb1.pgn) and started a tournament from type gauntlet. But the stronger engine, on top of the list, plays two games (with white and black) against the rest of the field. Changing "Cycles" to 1 is not possible, only even numbers are allowed.

Do I miss something?

no you didn't miss anything, some time ago I tried to explain how pairing and cycles work in myracle, but some people
feel entitled to suggest "fixes" to something they don't understand. so in the end after several failed attempts I grew frustrated
and simply forced cycles to be an even number and leave it at that instead of wasting more energy, since this is what you want
in 99% of the cases anyway.

so - I'll probably add a checkbox to enable odd cycles in the next build

build 113 is up:
- "enable odd cycles in tournaments" checkbox in settings/tournaments

somehow now also Kaspersky "detects" myracle on VT, good since I got rid of Kaspersky on my computer the day that Russia started war in Ukraine

I have holidays next week so please no new feature requests as I won't read this anyway
