Hi.

Now, the second game against Stockfish, taking the h7 pawn.
A win for me.

Stockfish deviated from the first game with 2... Kf8 (instead of 2... f6).
It allowed me to keep a protected passed pawn on h6, its king was tied to it; and I sent my king to the queenside.
After 16... a3, I also considered 17. ba3, which I think also wins.
But 17. b4 looks simpler to me: I will capture the a3 pawn anyway two moves later, and I keep a healthy candidate pawn (instead of double pawns, which will require further assistance from my king to produce a passed pawn).

Hi.

In the second round of the challenge, I played nine games:
2 losses (¡ouch!);
0 draws;
7 wins.

Stockfish, e7 pawn: win.
Komodo, h7 pawn: win.
Lc0, a7 pawn: loss.
Stockfish, g7 pawn: win.
Komodo, b7 pawn: loss.
Berserk, e7 pawn: win.
Komodo, g7 pawn: win.
Stockfish, a7 pawn: win.
Stockfish, h7 pawn: win.

I feel that I played worse in the second round, since in the first round I played 40 games with 0 losses.
After two rounds, I have played 49 games, and dropped 6.5 points.

Points dropped against:
Berserk: 0.5 (9 games)
Crafty: 0.0 (8 games)
Komodo: 2.5 (11 games)
Lc0: 1.5 (9 games)
Stockfish: 2.0 (12 games)

Points dropped taking the:
a7 pawn: 2.0 (7 games)
b7 pawn: 1.5 (6 games)
c7 pawn: 0.0 (5 games)
d7 pawn: 0.0 (5 games)
e7 pawn: 1.0 (7 games)
f7 pawn: 0.0 (5 games)
g7 pawn: 1.0 (7 games)
h7 pawn: 1.0 (7 games)

Grouping them:
rook pawns: 3.0 (14 games)
knight pawns: 2.5 (13 games)
bishop pawns: 0.0 (10 games)
central pawns: 1.0 (12 games)

Third round to begin soon.
The next game is against Lc0, taking the a7 pawn.

Greetings.

Hi.

Now, the third game against Lc0, taking the a7 pawn.
A win for me.

I deviated from the previous two games with 4. b4
In the first game (draw), I played 4. d3
In the second game (loss) I played 4. d4
Now that I look at it, I do not understand why I did not play 4. b4 before, it is just a good move.
With 5... dc4, Lc0 gave me a healthy pawn majority in the queenside, I just had to go and find a way for my king into the other flank.
11. f4 did the trick for me. Lc0 advanced 11... g4 and let my king enter the h-file. But otherwise, I would have captured with fg5 and then played h4; my king would find its path anyway.

Hi.

Now, the third game against Komodo, removing the b7 pawn.
A win for me.

¡This is the last game of the challenge!

I deviated from the previous two games with 2. c3 (instead of 2. c4)
This time, it was not the classical invasion of my king into the flank opposite to my pawn majority.
It was more a game of letting Komodo run out of waiting moves.
After 12. b5, I knew I had as many reserve tempi as I wanted, but Komodo did not.

A brief summary.

In the third round, I played two games, and won both; against:
Lc0, taking the a7 pawn.
Komodo, taking the b7 pawn.

In total, I played 51 games and dropped 6.5 points.

Points dropped against:
Berserk: 0.5 (9 games)
Crafty: 0.0 (8 games)
Komodo: 2.5 (12 games)
Lc0: 1.5 (10 games)
Stockfish: 2.0 (12 games)

Points dropped taking the:
a7 pawn: 2.0 (8 games)
b7 pawn: 1.5 (7 games)
c7 pawn: 0.0 (5 games)
d7 pawn: 0.0 (5 games)
e7 pawn: 1.0 (7 games)
f7 pawn: 0.0 (5 games)
g7 pawn: 1.0 (7 games)
h7 pawn: 1.0 (7 games)

Grouping them:
rook pawns: 3.0 (15 games)
knight pawns: 2.5 (14 games)
bishop pawns: 0.0 (10 games)
central pawns: 1.0 (12 games)

I will take a break before the next challenge.
I still do not decide which one to play; but the main options are a Queen vs Rook odds challenge (remove one of my rooks, remove the engine's Queen), and a Chess960 challenge against weakened engines.

Greetings.
