I know that the 1st one (32 core machine) is faster,just i'am interested
how much would be the speed difference for computerchess (percentage approximately ) ?
1) 32 core machine:
- 1x TYAN SATA workstation VX50 (B4985) 8CPU's
- 8 x AMD Opteron Quadcore 8350 2.0GHz 75W (Sock F)
- 8 x 1GB DDR-2 ECC/Reg LP 667 for Socket-F 2 rank
- 2 x 250GB SATA-II 3.5IN 12.6MS 7200RPM 8MB 3GB/S
- 1 x DVD Reader (in kleur chassis)
- 1 x Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Ent 1-8CPU 64Bit +25cl. EN
2) 16 core machine:
- 1x Supermicro SAS/SATA server model 8045C-3RB
- 4 x Xeon X7350 Quadcore 2,93GHz FSB1066 8MB (130W)
- 8 x 1GB qualified 667MHz FB-DIMM
- 2 x 250GB SATA-II 3.5IN 12.6MS 7200RPM 8MB 3GB/S
- 1 x DVD Reader/Writer (in kleur chassis)
- 1 x Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Std 1-4CPU 64Bit +5cl. EN

I think it depends on how good the chess engine scales with that many cpu.
