Would you like a new subforum "Clones"?
Take a look how many of the active threads are about the topics
Clones, GPL, Copyright, etc.
Suggestion: a new subforum for these threads. This will be an improvement for both the clone discussion lovers and for those who prefer general discussions about computer chess.

Yes Mike, I know I would ...

So, sometimes there's a hot topic...
And, of course, you're helping to keep it hot!
Personally, I like it when things get heated up for a bit...
Actually, perhaps we should get rid of the help and suggestions forum...Poll please!!

I agree James. I think it would be good to get rid of help and suggestions. Also i think would be nice just to have two,James Constance wrote:So, sometimes there's a hot topic...![]()

It would appear, if anyone falsely accused decided to take legal action, that the site publishers and moderators had made a special forum for the encouraging of accusations of this nature.
The situation for moderators and the site owner is risky enough at the moment without this on top.
Instead I encourage members to tone down any accusatory language used in discussing this issue and to think very carefully before making public statements.

This is an important point, and such an impression would have to be avoided. Explicit clone accusations without evidence on a certain quality level should not be allowed anyway (just reporting similarities is something much different). Also, I think such a subforum should be visible for logged-in members only, like the CTF.chrisw wrote:It would appear, if anyone falsely accused decided to take legal action, that the site publishers and moderators had made a special forum for the encouraging of accusations of this nature.
What I hope that it achieves is, that the general forum is not dominated by the various clone related threads so often (keyword Strelka). This is really such a specific and usually annoying matter, that it is like poison for the general forum. That's why I made this proposal.

It would help cloners a lot when their evil deeds are discussed only by 2 or 3 persons in a hidden subforum
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

I agree. I am only one mod here, but I personally I would delete accusations that were made without very strong supporting evidence.
Saying "I found this string and that string similar" is more or less ok, but "XYZ is a clone" or "Author ABC is a pirate or fraud" minus extremely strong support data is not ok.
