In Computer chess, tournament is a rarity, So I support having more online computer chess tournaments, It's fun and useful.
I think you should call it "Yaari".

a tournament called 'friendship'?! I don't know what this has to do with anything, other than you showing off your hindi skills

Maybe Robindu must have taught you the very first word in hindi... 8-)

Well, you can pick an opening that's less researched than the Najdorf.

This one is interesting (ECO B67):

[D] r2qkb1r/1p1b1p2/p1npp2p/6P1/3NP1nB/2N5/PPPQ2PP/2KR1B1R w kq - 0 12

This was played in the Short-Kasparov world championship match (among other occasions).

I agree about letting participants play both sides, if possible.

Either you allow opening book use and the tournament will be a booker competition more than an engine one (even more in the Najdorf : please do take into account that there are more and more frequently games that go to a forced draw at move 50 without leaving the book : this is daily experience on Playchess!)...

.. Or you forbid book use (tournament played from a given startposition without book) but how could you enforce this rule for an online competition ? False PV can easily be recorded for book moves and could not be differentiated from real interactive PV ...

I am not sure this is really a good idea.

Why not simply revive Skiner's CCT and CCTblitz tournaments ?

My two cents

Marc
If honoring Fischer is the idea, e4 c5 /Nf3 d6/ d4 cxd4/Nxd4 Nf6/ Nc3 a6/h3!? may be a better position. Not many games have been played with h3 and opening books won't be a big deal.

However, engines may play horrible this position.

Hi Miguel

Yes this is an interesting possibility ! I have found 4 games by Fischer with 6.h3 in my database, all won (including a win vs Najdorf in 24 moves).

Well confusing engines is part of our plan... if they play horrible, they will lose

Call it what it is: ICT - Internet Computer Thematic.

I suppose you could fit in another C for Chess (ICCT).
