I am once again looking for a new system. The computer will be used primarily for chess.
I'm leaning toward a Q6600 with GIGABYTE GA-EP35C-DS3R
motherboard. ( I definitely will overclock the cpu.)
My question is, would you recommend the DDR3-1066
ram or stick with DDR2-800?
Here is the link which seems to have plenty of quality options.

Re: DDR3 Question
Typically when a motherboard supports both DDR2 and DDR3 there is a trade off in performance somewhere due the extra memory support.
I would stick to DDR2-800 and have it over clocked. For chess the cache size and the clock speed of the CPU is more important in my opinion.
The Crucial Ballistix line of DDR2-800 memory overclocks well.
Good luck

Re: DDR3 Question
Murat,
I just finished a search on the subject, and had decided the faster DDR2 ram was the way to go.
Thanks for the reply!
