Is ICOfY Base good quality?

Post by mrerk »

ICOfY Base version 1.0.8 contains 4,812,452 chess games from the year 1560 to June 2008. Please check the link below.

I do not have money to buy database from chessbase. Therefore, I will try ICOfY Base but I do not know whether it is good quality.

Is it good enough?

Is it okay for any chess analysis?

I would try ICOfY Base in my chessbase 8 program. I know that converting PGN database into chessbase database is time-consuming but I have enough patience.

Thanks in advance.

1.07 contains 4+ million games.
An update file of 0.8 million games
to 1.08 for separate download would
be great.

I just looked at the webpage, looks very amateurish..They also mention on the front page that their software isnt compareable to Chessbase or Chess Assistant..I dont see where I can buy it though..When I click on the How to Buy page, it takes me to an ebay link, when I click on the Ebay link I dont really get anything useful. Like Fonzy said, I would just download the game collection from Norm.

I would wonder if you would find a link for how to buy there, because
the base is free ;-) You simply have to download it.

Could it be an advertisement? Actually i think they put it there because they know someone like you will click on it. It's gotta be worth at least another 7 posts from you here......

Well, you sure have noticed the four items at the bottom of the
main page? They randomly change, because the site obviously
has a partnership with ebay advertisments to be able to offer
its base for free ;-)

Of course you can also donate by Paypal if you like...
(Before you ask, no I have no connection to that site)

You aren't surprised that you are on my censor list, are you? I wish we had a similar feature here that prevented me from seeing your insults.

I didnt notice that until now..I did see the donation button. However, I couldnt figure out the reason for having a how to buy link, when their product isnt commercial. I wonder how often sites like that gets donations.
