Hi
I was on the phone to a comp friend and he said there is no such chip as the Athlon 5.2 Ghz and this is a typo, that I have fallen for.
Not only did I feel like I could put togther a nice comp, acutally it does not exsist.
For one brief moment there were 4 of these going into a quad board. Athlon do not do a multi-cpu board.
Dashed by my own desire, my apologies for this mess!
Chris

Yes there is no 5.2Ghz Athlon ... there might be a 5200 "rating" ... which is a system that AMD designed to thwart Intel's efforts in the Ghz war. Intel with its P4 architecture went for highest possible Ghz neglecting performance ... the thought was that people would care more about speed than performance. That is why a P4 at 3.2 Ghz cannot compete with a 2.2 Ghz Athlon at same speed ... thus the "rating" system by AMD was brought out. This ofcourse is no longer valid as with Intel's Core 2 technology ... speed AND performance are there.

It's not that far away, actually.
I have one of those 5000+ chips, which has two cores 2.6 GHz each. Whether that makes it 5.2 GHz total, is just a matter of definition!
Not bad at all for chess, but nothing spectacular.
