endgame position, Fritz-Rybka

In one of George Speight's games, Fritz 11-Rybka 3 there was this postiion:

[d] 8/5pk1/4p3/4P1pp/1p3P1P/1P6/5P1K/8 w - -

Here Fritz played fxg5, which loses, instead of hxg5, which I think should draw. Rybka on the next move had a score over -5 (advantage to Black). Fritz did not fail low until several moves later.

That's pretty strange: most programs I have tried won't play fxg5. It shouldn't need a deep search to see White will at least lose a pawn.

An interesting position and you are right: fxg5?? loses. I have also tested
some engines and none of them played this strange move. Even Fritz 10
does better by playing 1.Kg2 which also leads to a draw.
