Winboard 4.2.7 + Crafty 22.1

Hello,
I get this message when I want to start a new game (reset) with crafty and winboard : Error : first chess program exited unexpectedly

My winboard.ini :

What's going on ?

Try making a new short cut on your desktop and put this information in:

F:\Chess\Winboard\winboard.exe -cp -fcp crafty -fd F:\Chess\Crafty -scp crafty -sd F:\Chess\Crafty

Of course edit the paths for your setup and use the rc file below. You have a few options set that are defaults and don't need to be in your rc.

I modified the rc file and created the shortcut but I still have this problem when I restart a game. I also tried your compilation and JA's one. I have no problems with the option mt=1.
My cpu is an Intel Core2 Duo. Windows xp SP3 32 bits.

I found the solution by reading this old news.

”/Xreuse” - when added will cause Winboard to restart the Chess engine after each game, instead of reusing it from game to game. This is useful in some cases with problematic engines that do not recognise the end of a game properly.

So I just added /Xreuse at the end of the command line and mt=2 works fine.

What's going on ?

It is a remnant of the smpnice=1 bug. When the proceses are terminated, they go away normally under unix. But in windows, they should not terminate, they should do a "return" which will terminate them. 22.2 will solve this when it is released...
