When is it?
There is no schedule at their website(though there is a timing schedule for other games). Participants list looks neat, those engines are strong enough.

I saw something about it at that forum for unwashed masses. I had to suffer a lot of stench to get the link below.

Thanks, Tony. It's going to be a single roundrobin, Should be fun. perhaps I'd go online and watch those games... I should remember that. Rybka is a clear favourite, not sure about the second placings, we will see.Tony Thomas wrote:I saw something about it at that forum for unwashed masses. Dont forget Cluster Toga, the organizers of the tournament must be bunch of fools. Let me just take the open source strelka, let me also steal the material imbalance tables from Rybka 3, and lets combine that with the best free smp code (glaurung) and make it work on a cluster..Then I would have one of the best rivals for any engine available on this planet. Then let me enter that in the world computer chess championship where all the other programmers who spent massive amounts of time changing, adding, testing removing code from their engines try to get some recognition.

Ofcourse, I find the Cluster Toga entrance problematic since it is not completely original, but they claim it is legal and Fabien gives permission, GPL allowed it etc...But I still think Rybka would win this one easily.Tony Thomas wrote:Dont forget Cluster Toga, the organizers of the tournament must be bunch of fools. I am not sure if it will be as easy as you think....I think that Shredder, Sjeng, Hiarcs, and Junior have decent chances of winning a tournament here and there..swami wrote: But I still think Rybka would win this one easily.

Sure these are the dark horse, but you must accept the fact that the probability of Rybka winning is incredibly high, logically you should go for that.Tony Thomas wrote:I am not sure if it will be as easy as you think....I think that Shredder, Sjeng, Hiarcs, and Junior have decent chances of winning a tournament here and there..swami wrote: But I still think Rybka would win this one easily.

Re: WCCC 2008, China?
you might want to check into this guys but i am fairly certain that the hardware being used in China is not the same for all participants
some engines will be running on Octo's and some not
i think this is normal for the WCCC Events?
Keeping things in perspective Regards
Steve
