I could not attend. This is a two week event when you count travel time. It is not reasonable to miss two weeks of classese here. Not to mention the huge cost of traveling, room, board, etc. The event is out of control, being held in places that are too expensive to travel to, and it lasts _way_ too long. We used to do these things in 3-4 days and people could afford to attend back then. It is slowly dying away.Sean Evans wrote:http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=4935

Hi Bob, as I recall you would have people in the area represent Crafty on your behalf?!bob wrote:I could not attend. This is a two week event when you count travel time. I noticed the article states:
"Eight of the ten participants of the WCCC are using remote machines in Europe."
So you would not have to attend the tourney, just use Cray Blitz at your University!

Don't know anyone close by for this particular venue. Paris was easy.Sean Evans wrote:Hi Bob, as I recall you would have people in the area represent Crafty on your behalf?!bob wrote:I could not attend.
