CEGT - rating lists December 27th 2009

Post by Werner »

Hi all :-),
our updated rating lists are now online and can be found under the attached links.

40 / 20:
Today we added 1610 games made with 36 different engines to our list. See more in our list "Games of the week". In total our 40/20 list is based now on 347.626 games.

New engines:

The new Stockfish 1.6 shows an improvement of around 100 Elos in our list. The 1CPU version scored with 3039 in 534 games. This is place 3 in our single-list - just behind Rybka. With 4CPUs we have a start-rating of 3157 with 99 games. It was a nice Christmas Present from Marco and his team. Thank´s a lot - and congrats again!
We have also a start-rating of 2730 in 98 games for Crafty 23.01 x64 1CPU Chessbase.

Updated engines:

Code: Select all

68 Fruit 090705 x64 2CPU 2937 +24 -24 446 games (+6)
82 Fruit 090705 x64 1CPU 2926 +20 -20 700 games (+-0)

86 Deep Junior 2010 x64 4CPU 2921 +23 -23 558 games (+2)
117 Deep Junior 2010 x64 2CPU 2902 +22 -22 578 games (+1)
182 Deep Junior 2010 x64 1CPU 2849 +22 -22 650 games (+-0)

103 Doch 1.2 x64 2913 +20 -20 694 games (could hold it´s good start-rating and has still place 12 in the single-list!)

Thanks Werner for testing.

In our internal testing we measured +80 ELO against 1.5.1 but we thought it was only lucky and real gain was less....perhasp we were wrong :-)

We have 97 elo for 1 cpu.

We need to wait how much elo we are going to get for 4 cpu(note that stockfish1.5.1 earned less from 4 cpu relative to stockfish1.4 and it is interesting to see if the tendency continue)

The previous version got 52 elo advantage from 1 cpu and only 14 elo from 4 cpu

18 Stockfish 1.5.1 x64 4CPU 3015 24 24 449 50.6% 3011 44.1%
25 Stockfish 1.4 x64 4CPU 3001 11 11 2220 56.7% 2954 41.8%

66 Stockfish 1.5.1 x64 1CPU 2942 19 19 685 52.6% 2924 46.0%
133 Stockfish 1.4 x64 1CPU 2890 19 19 757 46.6% 2913 43.9%

CCRL gave the following at the 40/40 list

21 elo improvement for 4 cpu
44 elo improvement for 1 cpu

Stockfish 1.5.1 64-bit 4CPU 3079 +25 −25 53.8% −23.4 47.9% 493
Stockfish 1.4 64-bit 4CPU 3058 +17 −17 56.0% −41.1 41.5% 1133

Stockfish 1.5.1 64-bit 2999 +28 −28 54.7% −29.5 39.2% 416
Stockfish 1.4 64-bit 2955 +19 −18 53.1% −18.3 51.3% 853

:) It is at the top. :) There is still a question as to what it is.
Legal or Illegal.
Stockfish has shown great improvement.
But in the 32 bit version not very close to Tankist 1.2 in my tests.

Best,
Gerold.

Hi Jouni,
I will not test this engine as I think it is not legal and it can kill our hobby computerchess. I have an email from a top-programmer which says:
"I am done with competing (it lost any meaning after the Robbo engine). "
And perhaps it is not the only one!

Best wishes
Werner

Maybe that top programmer gave up competing long time ago, after Rybka first showed up, + it was no open source. (so he would not be the first who have done that)

Why do you think it is the case with Robbo....
Maybe the top programmers gave up working on their engine because of Rybka, so it is time for them to come back. I know at least one who has done that, and that's Mr Naumov.
So no reason for you not to test the engine. In fact I think you should.

BTW: who is that top programmer if I may ask?

Chesstiger ?, when was the last time Mr Theron released a new version of his program ? In fact I think he retired a long time ago...

Robbolito is open source, so everyone can take a look on the source and improve their engine. I think you are speaking nonsense Werner...

obviously this may be precisely the reason of that "top-programmer" to write what he wrote. He doesn't want to study robbolito source (or any very strong program source). It spoils some of the fun. But probably you know it very well and simulate you dont understand it because you are a robbolito defender and as it happens with many people defending/attackng a side speaks like a politician or something.
