1. Everybody.
2. Install Parallels, install Windows and then install what you want.
3. Use the latest Stockfish dev.

Not helpful.
"Everybody" hasn't done this, and clearly some builds of SF will be faster than others in an ARM environment, hence the question. One massive issue for anyone using an M1 Max or Ultra is that Parallels only supports 8 cores, even with the Pro version.

Ethereal 12.69 (aka Etherlito) github with NNUE embedded (~3500 ELO!) compiled by me for Mac M1

Binary and source

Testing it right now against Ethereal 13.69 github no NNUE, Koivisto 8.13 and Berserk 9
and I will embed soon other 21 MB compatible Stockfish NNUEs to check possible improvements :)

Parallels 18 has just been released and core count for the M series of processors has increased from 8 to 18.

While this is good it’s a strange decision, with the M1 Ultra sporting 20 cores and whatever will land in the new Mac Pro surely more again. Parallels comes out every August/September so there’s quite a wait till version 19.

If you have an M2, tell us if now Parallels 18 supports AVX2 with macOS 13 Ventura. It would be the real quantum leap for chess engines.
