Nice, I'll test it soon. Would it be possible for future versions to add an option to disable the log file?chrjly wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 11:11 am v2.6, February 2021

I will delete the generation of the log file in the next release. Other engines don't do this.

Hi Christophe, I would not delete the function completely, just make it an user option.
It is still useful for tracking bugs (GUI, engine). GUI logs and engine logs e.g. can be out of sync
and a view from both sides will reveal what's happening.
(Of course one can use Inbetween for this too, but the ordinary user probably won't use it)
BTW quite a lot of programs have a logging function, but almost always it can be turned off.

Re: KnightX 2.6 Winboard engine released
The log file is useful for me, sometimes I want to see the principal variation of a bad move.
Ok I will make an option to enable/disable this feature.
Yes I have removed the uci protocol because it isn't completely implemented (analyse mode, step back, step forward).
If you need it for some tournaments I will add it again, it is just a conditional compilation.

If an engine knows both protocols I have more freedom in arranging my tournaments. I use Arena, Fritz and Shredder, the latter two can't use WB engines (only with adapters).
