Fat Fritz 2: how to copy FEN from game

Post by simonizeourwatches »

Windows 10. I tried to copy the FEN string from my game by control+C but that sends something to the "windows clipboard" that does not work with the Nalimov table website I wanted to use http://www.k4it.de/?topic=egtb&lang=en. The only way I found was to save the game into a database and then open the game with Fritz 11. This seems less tedious than manually setting up the position via "position setup" (assuming that copying the FEN from there actually works. I did not try that). Sometimes Fritz 11 won't start if Fat Fritz 2 is running though.

Can you copy the FEN from clipboard here?

I don't like using windows clipboard but I think I found a way.
1) In FF2 go to the position I want
2) Control + C copies a bunch of stuff, including the FEN, to windows clipboard
3) switch to the Nailmov URL.
4)go to the Nalimov prompt where I want to paste the FEN
5) windows key + v
6) scroll down past the unnecessary junk in the clipboard to the FEN
7) windows key + v again

It was better in Fritz 11 but AFAIK the FF2 UCI engine doesn't work in Fritz 11

I don't see any FEN in that diagram. Is it in the HTML source somewhere?

Why don't you what I suggested so we can see what it contains?

I don't see a way to generate a FEN from that web page. But see my other post in this thread.
