Re: SmallBrain vs Stockfish 3 50 at T/C 15/10
Could it be that when Stockfish3 was tested back in 2010 it only got a 3000+ rating because of the hardware which was 3 times or 4 times slower than this, but now for instance smallbrain got a rating of 3000+ against other engines and it got blown away by Oldie Stockfish 3

Re: 60 games SmallBrain vs Stockfish 3 at T/C 15/10
So Stockfish 3 is probably rated around 3200 at T/C 15/10, using today's hardwareChessqueen wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 9:51 pm Could it be that when Stockfish3 was tested back in 2010 it only got a 3000+ rating because of the hardware which was 3 times or 4 times slower than this, but now for instance smallbrain got a rating of 3000+ against other engines and it got blown away by Oldie Stockfish 3![]()

A lot of wrong numbers and assumptions and statistical noise here.Chessqueen wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 9:51 pm Could it be that when Stockfish3 was tested back in 2010 it only got a 3000+ rating because of the hardware which was 3 times or 4 times slower than this, but now for instance smallbrain got a rating of 3000+ against other engines and it got blown away by Oldie Stockfish 3

SF 3 already is far over 3100 in Blitz (3125) and slightly below 3100 (3093) in rapid in CCRl.
Smallbrain 4.0 is not tested so far at all and the '3000' is just an assumption from the author,
while 3.0 sits at 2925 (only tested in Blitz).
In GURL 3 (Ordo calculated), which heavily correlates to CCRL due to being calibrated to Fruit 2.1 = 2700 SF 3 x64 even has 3181! (6000+ games)
Moreover you played much too less games and more severe, I wouldn't trust a single game produced by you
due to past and verified experiences.

Re: SmallBrain vs Stockfish 3 50 at T/C 15/10
Another 900 games is in progress at the moment, just to satisfy your curiosity, but in statistic you can always take a small sample, in which the standard error is dependent on sample size, most of the times larger sample sizes produce smaller standard errors, which most of the times give you an estimate with higher precision. but if you take a small sample you can proportionally predict the outcome. You are not the only one who took statistic in this forum. Re: SmallBrain vs Stockfish 3 50 at T/C 15/10
I do NOT believe that 1000 games is necessary, if you can NOT logically take a small sample size like this one and realize that Stockfish 3 is way way superior thefore something is wrong with your logic. I stopped the match since it is obvious to anybody that based on this small sample of 135 game played so far Smallbrain will never catch stockfish 3. What I will do id to pit it against ICE 4.0 which is suppose to be slightly better or around 3120 at T/C 15/10Chessqueen wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 1:14 pmAnother 900 games is in progress at the moment, just to satisfy your curiosity, but in statistic you can always take a small sample, in which the standard error is dependent on sample size, most of the times larger sample sizes produce smaller standard errors, which most of the times give you an estimate with higher precision. but if you take a small sample you can proportionally predict the outcome. On the other hand when it is as close as these two engines then it is recommended to run it for 1000 games which is my intentionChessqueen wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 1:16 amI do NOT believe that 1000 games is necessary, if you can NOT logically take a small sample size like this one and realize that Stockfish 3 is way way superior thefore something is wrong with your logic. Moreover you played much too less games and more severe.
NOTE: And please after I am done testing it for another 900 games, do not ask me to test it for a 1 million games. You are more than welcome to do it yourself.![]()

Re: SmallBrain vs Stockfish 3 50 at T/C 15/10
You really grasped nothing from my post lol.Chessqueen wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 1:16 amI do NOT believe that 1000 games is necessary, if you can NOT logically take a small sample size like this one and realize that Stockfish 3 is way way superior thefore something is wrong with your logic.Chessqueen wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 1:14 pmAnother 900 games is in progress at the moment, just to satisfy your curiosity, but in statistic you can always take a small sample, in which the standard error is dependent on sample size, most of the times larger sample sizes produce smaller standard errors, which most of the times give you an estimate with higher precision. but if you take a small sample you can proportionally predict the outcome. You are not the only one who took statistic in this forum. ...
Moreover you played much too less games and more severe.

Read it again... SF 3 is superior to Smallbrain 4.0 and everything we already know tells us this (your games are all invain).
Only you faked and invented some wrong numbers and assumptions, which should make them equal (in your brain alone).
But to know if SF 3 is 150 or 200 or even slightly more above Smallbrain 4.0, this needs a lot of games. (also against different opponents)
It's totally useless to talk to you.

No Stockfish is only about 130 Elo stronger I already tested it against these group of engines Smallbrain was the last engine that I tested againstGuenther wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:00 amYou really grasped nothing from my post lol.Chessqueen wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 1:16 amI do NOT believe that 1000 games is necessary, if you can NOT logically take a small sample size like this one and realize that Stockfish 3 is way way superior thefore something is wrong with your logic.Chessqueen wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 1:14 pmAnother 900 games is in progress at the moment, just to satisfy your curiosity, but in statistic you can always take a small sample, in which the standard error is dependent on sample size, most of the times larger sample sizes produce smaller standard errors, which most of the times give you an estimate with higher precision. but if you take a small sample you can proportionally predict the outcome.
