Good news about the deal to keep the site going. I am willing to contribute financially towards its operations, but I don't want to get involved in the nuts and bolts of running it.

Well done to those involved!Rebel wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 8:29 pm UPDATE
Talks with the shop were positive, 6 members donated a considerable amount of money and the shop accepted. Meaning, the forum will be owned again as it was setup in November 1997, thus owned by the forum members, the domain name as well. No data loss, in fact Srdja scraped the old CCC online archive from 1997-2006 meaning we will have the complete history since November 1997. Meanwhile a new Founder Group has formed of 4 people, Chris, Srdja, HGM and me. The FG will be responsible for the transfer, making talkchess.com safe (hacker proof), calling for moderator elections. When there is more news we will inform you.
Just a thought - have those who made a considerable donation been considered as possibly being part of the Founders group?

Congratulations for Ed and the new founder group! Glad that negotiations with ChessUSA were successful.
To Graham: it is probably still possible to contribute for running costs. But with my $10 it probably was not possible to close a deal. I do not mind if others paid more.

Great day for talkchess. The kidnapping ends.

Mine also works; towforce's suggestion is like a dart in the centre of the bullseye: http://rebel13.nl/Rebeluci.jpg retrieves a 'This web space is expired' message. However, it was working on June 20th:

Thanks for everything Srdja! Real life always comes first I hope no disagreements within the Founder Group.
Do you plan to keep the demo forum online?

I am sure the Founders Group and Community can solve this TC situation step by step, but I have not the patience or energy for a several months operation, the demo forum is offline again...Eelco de Groot wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 5:01 pm Thanks for everything Srdja! And time has passed, I assume the shop deal is satisfied.
So what is the next blocker that I have to login 3~4 times to post a message or view inbox? The bot check is also not gone.
