Thanks, but since the difference between stockfish and crab is expected to be close, maybe something like 1000 games is needed to determine that. If you can afford about 15 hours of your computer time, you may test Crab 1.0 beta 64bit against Stockfish 1.7.1 JA 64bit (original setting) with a time control like 3sec for all game + 50 ms per move. I am using Arena but I read that cute-chess cli is better at these time controls. I want to compare this result to my own ones. So far the faster compiles here on my slow computer seems worse than official ja SF while my own compiles (mingw) against ja universal compiles seems not to be worse.Here a little compare:
Blitz 5m Core i7 920 @3.80Ghz , Blitz 5 0
Critter 0.70 64-bit 2800 - Stockfish 1.7.1 JA 64bit 2800 5.0 - 5.0 +2/=6/-2 50.00% -> with zugzwand dectection on
Critter 0.70 64-bit 2800 - Stockfish 1.7 JA 64bit 2800 5.0 - 5.0 +2/=6/-2 50.00%
Critter 0.70 64-bit 2800 - Crab 1.0 beta 64bit 2800 3.0 - 7.0 +1/=4/-5 30.00% !! (used the faster compile!)
