I play 27.Qb3, primarily to discourage ...Ng6. Of course trading queens to win a pawn isn't a good deal when you are down the equivalent of five pawns. I don't believe Connie knows this, she just had no choice. Probably if Connie had White she would trade the queens.

You actually mean encourage, don't you?
Since you avoided trading queens, any other move makes Connie play Ng6.

Qb3 is intended to prevent ...Ng6, so "discourage" seems correct to me.

I doubt the Connie understands but Ng6 is a good move.

I'm not sure what it will play but if it goes wrong say with 27..Qc3? then 28. Bxh7+! and if Kxh7?? 29. Qxf7! and White has a forced mate!

Well you certainly discouraged Connie from deploying the N to g6 and perhaps even enticed her to play the some what dubious...

27..g6

With the white queen on a3, how do you play Qxf7???

You will notice that Larry played Qb3 - it's quoted above.

I was talking about the Queen on b3 not a3, Larry moved his Queen to b3.

The diagram hadn't been updated at that time.

It's moot anyway as the Connie played g6.

I was looking at the diagram given, not all the stuff inside the post. :)

I play the obvious 28.Bc4. Black has made some inaccurate moves, enough to say that I would be close to winning if I got back my handicapped rook. But as it is I'm still quite lost, though with more hope than earlier. Black's errors have not been any worse than I would expect from a typical class A player, and of course many of the moves have been much better.
