How can it play a game in Chess GUI and Mayura if it does not work? Are these just GUI-book moves?cdani wrote:Norbert and me had done some more serius test and we think this engine really does not work. Would it be possible to compile a newer version Daniel?
I have seen there were a lot of commits during the last year.

Well, that was a hard nut to crack in my first test now. It still did not make any moves in Winboard, but it calculated in the terminal window.
Of course I just fed uci/ucinewgame and go to the terminal.
Therefore I decided to give the good old inbetween tool a chance and filtered out all which was sent with the first 'go' command at my tested tc.

Of course it choked again on the next go command ;-)
It seems it does not understand all time and movestogo commands,
but instead of just ignoring them it chokes on them.
Any idea if this could be fixed without the author?

CVPChess engine is written in Java ! WB protocol !
The author: Codrin-Victor Poienaru.
Just an university project. Nothing more !

It would be nice if you can send me this version (if you still have it), even
when it is just a random mover.
In the process of of rebuilding the RWBC chronology I am trying to check
all programs which were released since the end of 2010.
BTW the author restarted his work in March 2016! So far a lot of code
is missing, just piece types, game status, board and a bit more available right now.
Hopefully he finds the time to build a working program again.
All old code and the jar file of the old version were deleted.

The new Gophercheck called rev 171(?) reported from the site below works now normally! (No idea though who compiled it - at the github site there is no binary)Guenther wrote:...

Re: Chess Engine - Gopher Check
The author´s answer is:
Currently up to 8 search threads. I'll be rolling out support for pondering and improved support for time controls this weekend.
The ceiling at 8 search threads is just a constant; nothing in the design precludes having more than 8 worker threads. I haven't tested on hardware with more than 4 physical cores / 8 hyper-threads however so I'm not sure of the scalability beyond this point.
I'll begin providing version numbers with this weekend's release.
Best wishes,
Norbert
