Neutralize a piece in an engine...

Post by Pat51 »

Hi everyone. I hope i'm in the right board !
Do you know a chess program that neutralizes in its analysis a particular piece of the game?
For example, if in a study (with only pawns and the two kings) , i wish to see variations that do not involve both kings, the engine will propose me only the best move with pawn just like the king were not there ...
Thanks for your answer.

You could use one of the configurable multi-variant engines such as Sjaak II to define a variant with a royal piece that doesn't have any moves, and then let it analyze a position containing that instead of the King.

Hi. Thanks for your answer.
I install the engine Sjaak II in Arena (i didn't know that chess engine).
I don't know how to enter the variants in arena.
As the kings are at F1 (white king) and F8 (black king), i want to exclude the possibility of this two king to move by enter :

Code: Select all

Exclude: g1,h1
in command line
(with exclude, It's possible to exclude certain regions of the board. Moves are never generated from or to these squares)
How to do that in arena ?
I want to enter the code in the file variants.txt but need to launch it after ? How ?
I am lost !
Thank you for your help.
