So maybe best not to expect more than GUI compatible with Vista and old 1999 6.5 engine. Never mind!

?
Yeah, a generation fight...Werner wrote:Hi Daniel,
thanks for the answer - accepted!
but one thing I would really like to do:
making some games between Homer 2.0 and Chess Genius 7
Today is a new version of ChessGenius Classic 7.2 released!Isaksen wrote:Hi all
Looks like Richard Lang finally decided to work more on his desktop version. I have been waiting like that for ever, ever since I first bought his program.
You can find the program here: http://chessgenius.com/pc/beta.htm
It is a free update to all registered users of Chess Genius 7.0 ,7.1.
It is only a beta version of 7.2 until the real 7.2 version comes out, which will be soon.
If I remmber it correctly Chess Genius was one of the first programs who defeated World Champion Gary Kasparov, long before Deep Blue did.
Lets just hope that Mr Lang continues to work on his program, it would be a shame if he stopped now, after this version.
Am definetely looking forward to future versions of Chess Genius after this release. All this waiting finally paid off, hope it did for You as well.

MY understanding of human nature (if anything like my own) might suggest that Mr.Lang was meaning to to this for his customers many years ago, and only now managed to get around to it!Isaksen wrote: All this waiting finally paid off, hope it did for You as well.

Wouldnt it be better to match it against something + or - 200 points around its own strength rather than a match with top 8?S.Taylor wrote:MY understanding of human nature (if anything like my own) might suggest that Mr.Lang was meaning to to this for his customers many years ago, and only now managed to get around to it!Isaksen wrote: All this waiting finally paid off, hope it did for You as well.

Well, 7.2 from what I understand, might not be any particular improvement over Genius 3. BUT, Genius 8 just MIGHT be. So let's hope for that!
However, it might be interesting if someone could make a test with 7.2 vs the latest Rybka on same hardware, or even a bit slower for Rybka, and/or vs the top 5-8 engines.
I would think that it might lose every game, but it would be interesting to see HOW it does, and if it manages to cause some trouble, and how much.
Depends what you want to see.Tony Thomas wrote:Wouldnt it be better to match it against something + or - 200 points around its own strength rather than a match with top 8?S.Taylor wrote:MY understanding of human nature (if anything like my own) might suggest that Mr.Lang was meaning to to this for his customers many years ago, and only now managed to get around to it!Isaksen wrote: All this waiting finally paid off, hope it did for You as well.
