Rybka will play Chess960 in Mainz 2007 !

I find it odd that the 4 engines invited were Shredder, Rybka, Jonny and Spike. Why no Hiarcs ? Although it hasn't played FRC in any tournaments, it is number 1 on our FRC ratings lists here:

So I would have thought it almost certain that Hiarcs would have been invited. A pity, assuming Hiarcs could attend of course.

They probably invited based on past tournament history. Shredder and Spike are previous champions, Rybka is the current world Champion. I guess they could have invited Hiarcs instead of Johnny, but nothing would satisfy everyone. I would rather see a free engine performing at the tournament than any of the other commercials.

Would have been nice to get an invite! Otherwise its a bit like the Fritz v Junior invite! The WCCC without the rating list leader wasn't that why people complained Rybka was not at the Fritz v junior match?

that was the WCCC winner v another engine.

Surely we can have the traditional wccc winner v the rating list leader as Hiarcs clearly is(in FRC rating list see link below) and Rybka clearly was when Fritz v Junior was organised.

I believe what happend was that Hiarcs was invited and the Hiarcs's team refused the invitation, therefore, Johnny was invited

however I know once a Chess960 version of Rybka is release Ray is going to test this out so we will have a decent rating for Rybka at Chess960
