Right Zappa Mexico should be even better on 64 bits

of course Naum should be better on 64 bits too.

I will test both on 64 bits this week , I just got a new Window vista ultimate 64 bits

Naum only get a 5-10% speed up from 64bit, Zappa on the other hand gets about 40%.

How do you get those numbers?

In infinite analysis, I have found 50 to 90% speed-up for Zappa (and Rybka)!

Concerning Naum, Alex Naumov wrote:
"On my Athlon 64-bit and WinXP-64 Naum 2.0-64 and 2.1-64 are around 8% faster.
Naum 2.2-64 is around 10% faster. Naum is using some bitboards, but it isn't a bitboard only engine like Rybka."

I do not have a 64bit CPU, so whatever I mention regarding 64bit is from reading the net. On average, a 64bit engine gains about 40% from 64bit architecture, that includes Crafty, Djinn etc. I was only trying to make my point that Zappa would gain relatively well compared to Naum from using 64bit versions.

Then either don't give numbers, or quote the links where you found them.

The +40% is plain wrong for Zappa and Rybka.

Better, go get yourself a 64-bit system! 8-)

It is a general consensus that by doubling the speed you get 50 point increase in rating. In your examples, that should amount to a rating difference of 25-45 points...Here is just one example for you from CCRL 40/40.

Zap!Chess Zanzibar 64-bit 2904 +25 −25 54.1% −24.8 51.4% 461

Zap!Chess Zanzibar 32-bit 2884 +22 −22 57.1% −47.5 43.6% 645

Rating difference is 20 points, that amounts to a 40% speed up. It is possible that they get a speed up of up to 90% in certain positions but in average the speed up is indeed around 40-60%. Rybka and Zappa are out of the league engines for comparison purposes anyway. A 40% faster Rybka finding solutions that much faster would gain more points until enough engines come around that are in its league.

Rybka 1.0 64-bit 2919 +16 −16 68.7% −127.1 35.4% 1425
Rybka 1.0 32-bit 2883 +16 −16 60.9% −72.7 40.3% 1279

Rating difference is 36 points which shows almost a 70% speed up, which shows that we both might be right depending on the situation.

Also, you might want to think before you post, it might help your image a bit. Also, a smiley doesnt make an insult all right. <insert random number of smileys here>

Just Tested Zappa Mexico on Window Ultimate 64

Kn/s is around 5200 kn/s !!!

with 32 bits was around 2700-2800

You are right Tony
Not the same increase kn/s with Naum SMP (however is still very strong)

No

He means exactly what he says:

Tony said:
"Naum only get a 5-10% speed up from 64bit, Zappa on the other hand gets about 40%." and Tony's idea is right because Zappa earns clearly more than naum.

You stick to unimportant details.
It is clear that tony does not use zappa 64 bit and only gave a guess.
