Changing the bookmark to "http://www.talkchess.com/forum/" has solved the problem on this ff/linux combination.

I hope it will help when I get around to trying to do this.

Recently, I have been having to retype my username and password every single time re-open the site, not only when I open a new browser or reboot windows, or clear history.
Sometimes they require the whole proccess to be done twice, before I can get through to CTF.
It will not stay in my computer memmory, even though others passwords DO.

I'm not sure what the problem is? It may be cookie related, but that shouldn't be the problem.

I think it needs to be fixed at CCC's end.

I use both I.E. and Opera on three different computers, and I can't get my old user to work, so I had to create a new one which I'm using now.

Best regards

I did some tests earlier and looked through the cookies. It's session related and does need to be fixed at CCC's end. For some reason talkchess.com invalidates the session whereas talkchess.com/forum doesn't. Was there a software/configuration change done recently?

Hi Graham,

I can try reconfiguring the board's cookie—it got corrupted early last month and things haven’t been quite the same since then although I restored it to the recommended settings. Any time a cookie change is made it will cause some strangeness logging in and everyone will need to clear their copy of the old cookie afterward. If you all would like to pass the word (maybe a note in all three main forums with the instructions for IE and Firefox) I can make the configuration change about 12 hours from now, or at whatever time you suggest.

The file to look for in the IE temporary internet file list is typically cookie:[PC login ID]@talkchess.com.

-Sam-
I'll ask TCAdmin to go ahead within the next 24 hours.

Regards, Graham.
