Certainly doesn't sound like a real name, but I'm not 100% certain.
I dislike anonymous authors as much as you do, but at least we have the source code and know what we're dealing with.

Regards, Graham.
I exchanged some polite emails with "Chris Formula". Here are some excerpts:
Chris is my real given name. Formula is my pen name. I'm an avid fan of Toga and Fruit. I live in Manila, Philippines........As far i know, it only requires to release the code to follow the GPL license.

There are so many doubting people in the CCC. As for my case, i just want to help in my own little way to further the rapid development in the computer chess community. The full credits should go to Fabien and Thomas.
I might add that Shaun has been doing some extensive pre-release testing and that this is not another of the recent joke engines.
This is no joke engine is right. Just run a quick 20 games.
Fruit 2.3.1 - 10/20. Toga - 10/20

I wonder wenn we will experience an official release of a TogaMP? If you look in the CCRL Ratinglist you can se some TogaMP-betaversions and they are performing quite well. And what about Fruit? Are there any plans to release a Fruit MP? I certainly hope that.

Oops! Sorry, I didn't recognise that it is the CCRL URL, yesterday. I thought it is some new site with ../index.htm(l) missing directly after the base URL. Maybe sometimes I am in a too critical mood.

Actually it would not be wrong if CCRL would add such a page on that position, because if someone just enters computerchess.org.uk then it looks broken ("403 Forbidden").

Fruit 2.3.1 - 10/20. Toga - 10/20
But what about the playing style? Is it very different from Fruit's?
Your beliefs create your reality, so be careful what you wish for.

Hi Mike,

good point. I'll draw it to Ray's attention.

Regards, Graham.

PS - I'm very impressed with your new Balanced-12.ctg book so far. 8-)

Thanks! - Btw., coincidentally I had added the 'new fashion' Philidor defence just before the Benjamin-Rybka match started  It was missing in the Xmas2640. The total probability with normal book setting for 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 is 1.9%, in the Balanced-12.ctg. Black can be out of book early in some continuations though, because of bad black percentages.

Very much alike.
Now each has 26.5/53

It does not support bitbases. I don't see it in the uci options.

Just played 10 games of game/10min+10sec increment with this toga against hiarcs 11 and it won by one game. 2 wins one loss and 7 draws?

Had bad book as usual but they had the same bad book. Nice engine but looks alot like the other toga, maybe more aggressive but can't tell for sure.

This version is based on Toga II 1.3.1 which didn't support egbbs.

It was Toga II 1.3.4 that supported egbbs, but was weaker overall.
