As long as they dont have they own internet server where we can meet and play eachother easely, I dont think an GUI can overtake the Fritz one.

Chess Planet is an excellent site with many very good options. It has its own forums, internal e-mail, team events, etc. It also has a very good automated tournament structure, with events per rating or time control, that creates a crosstable that can be clicked on to see current or past games. For example, if players 1 and 3 are paired together, just click on their juncture in the crosstable to watch the game, or if it has finished, to see how it went.Lion wrote:As long as they dont have they own internet server where we can meet and play eachother easely, I dont think an GUI can overtake the Fritz one.
For computer chess aficionados, it supports UCI and Winboard engines, and supports Freestyle chess (man+machine). You can show games to other players, so classes are not a problem. The site also has a Flash based client (not to mention Flash videos to learn to use the site), so playing from a LAN house is not an issue. And one other nice little perk:
It´s FREE.

I think it is possible !!!!! Many are tired of getting abused by admin's that think they are GOD's and dont know the business of treating customers as someone thats important. Being treated in such as way, you start to look for another source. So if they get competition they will start to lose customers. I know a number of good dedicated to chess players are looking to move. After what happened to me in this last FreeStyle event, I am surely one of them. Long Live AquaMan !!!!

Rybka 3.0 will probably be released somewhere in fall. Deep Fritz 11 should be released somewhere before the end of the year. Shredder 12 should also be released somewhere in fall.

The things you are telling us sound good. I've been waiting to buy
it. Does it access ICC? Chess Assistant does.

Indeed! I tried to tell ICC to expand Gui etc.
before chessbase had really arrived..........the rest is as they say is history. With all the miscellaneous severs out there I am sure the market can assimilate another MAJOR server......
