UCI support is known to be a little buggy right now. Jim and I are testing it out. I think the latest version should be pretty much fixed, I'm just waiting for the tests.

UCI is still not complete though, ZCT isn't fully aware of the time control so would probably be pretty conservative time-wise.

Hi Harun,
Just played around 50 games or more with ZCT ...42b JA and ...043.
Latest 042b seems 200 points stronger than 043. Somewhere near
WJChess and Lime.
That seems pretty strange. There shouldn't really be a strength difference at all between them. Maybe a problem with a book or ZCT.ini? If it can't find ZCT.ini then it will use a very small default hash. It also seems that either ZCT varies wildly in strength or there are some newer bugs, the last testing I did (before I lost all of my testing setup) I had ZCT around 2400. It also won a nice game against Bright, but that would be a fluke anyways.

Once Jim posts the latest build and someone makes a nice book, it should be used with that, and with the XBoard protocol too.

Thanks for the testing though, guys.

I still need to put in the little fix for the Chessbase builds >

Code: Select all

	while (TRUE)
	{
		protocol = UCI; // (for ChessBase - JA)
               generate_root_moves();
		check_result(TRUE);
		if (protocol != ANALYSIS && protocol != ANALYSIS_X && protocol != DEBUG)
			update_clocks();
		if (ping)
		{
			if (protocol == XBOARD)
				print("pong %i\n", ping);
			else
				print("readyok\n");
			ping = 0;
		}

Jim.

Jim, I had already started playing a tournament with .2443, I didnt want to start over after 20 games, so I replaced the exe with .2443.2.. :lol: I hope that it wont make universe fall of its axis.

Thanks Jim. Strange that it still needs the CB fix; I'll look into that. Other than that though, is the UCI working fine?

Hi Zach,
That's expected behavior at this point, unfortunately...
What is the point of smp version that does not work?

I didn't compile it. I didn't release it. Ask Jim. I've said before that SMP is buggy right now...

Here is my results of ZCT so far. I am using arena and ZCT is running as a winboard engine, so far no crashes, no hangs, no losses on time etc..I should mention that after about 18 games, I replaced the exe with the latest 343.2 version from JA. It currently has a rating of slightly above 2150 according to Bayesian elo, to give you an idea, I post ZCT along with some other engines that are in the same league. I see that I should have used the command ratings 60 or something similar as I have few engines on the list with not enough games.
