I don't think any single person has the right to delete an accusation posting based only on his on subjective judgement of evidence, unless this is his private forum. The rights, even of mods, have limits.

No, of course not.
Too much subfora are always a bad idea.

You simply shouldn't click on threads with 'clone' in their title,
if you don't like them. Oppressing discussions about the dark
side of computer chess is extremely contraproductive and only
creates more clones.

Moreover what do you mean by 'clone discussion lovers'?
No one 'loves' to discuss clone issues. Sometimes they are
simply forced. The seeking for truth should not be hidden to please
a few with whatever motivation...
(Of course I don't talk about wild and unjustified accusations)

Would you like a new subforum "Clones"?
A new subforum? no. a cemetery maybe, where all proven clones go to. Or perhaps a memorial page?

There's no need give them more spotlight than what they already get.

Such a subforum would be idle most of the time, so I don't see the problem. By having an extra forum for such a very specific topic, nothing is "oppressed". I don't say clones should not be discussed, I say they should be discussed in another place.

"Seeking for the truth" is not the only thing which happens in such cases. What also happens is that 9 from 10 postings are entirely useless and that it turns into an annoying mess and a rotten message board parody (only without being funny). I guess we had at least 50 Strelka threads with at least 2,000 postings. Truth was found during the first 1% of it, the other 99% were trash, maybe with the exception of a very small amount of substantial new infos, once in a while.

"Simply not click" doesn't work! I almost ignore them anyway. But if they dominate the front page of the general forum (several clone threads simultanously on the top, for weeks), the interest in other topics is reduced and other topics are shifted to the bottom or off page 1, by these clone hysterias.

Some time ago, the chess programming topics were taken away from the general forum, into their own new subforum. It cannot be that good topics can be removed from general and get their own forum, but bad topics have to stay and make it unattractive.

Ok, enough of the campaign! Thanks for your votes.
Regards, Mike

How about a subforum called "Rants about the quality of posts on CCC"?

Perhaps I didn't make it fully clear. My personal opinion is to delete such posts, but I am only one mod here, and it takes a majority (2 out of 3 at least) to take a final decision.

I concur..

Few other suggestions

1) A goat lovers forum moderated by Tony, Mike, and Zach.. BAA BAA..
2) Strelka supporters forum..
3) Rybka Fanboi forum
4) Anti-Rybka forum
5) Anti-jew forum
6) Forum for not so smart suggestions to make other forums
7) Forum to run polls on weather the not so smart suggestions are plausible forum..

i wonder if more subforums will increase the quality of the posts.
but if it does I propose the following:
A. A special subforum for polls, to put an end to the bad case of poll-pollution talkchess is suffering from!
B. and why not go the extra mile and place each thread in its own subforum!

Now that's revolutionary..along those same lines, a subforum for each member should suffice.
