I have to ask another.
if we had a tournament today with all the top programs and we included Deep Blue---where would Deep Blue place?

sorry genie
and another
How much faster can code be read and not introduce a problem that has not been discovered?
In other words---if the hardware gets to 100 times faster, can the process of the chess program of reading code and analysis of the board position be normal as we know today?----will there be modifications in the future in the code, only because the hardware is so fast?

That’s easy. Toady deep blue would be last.kgburcham wrote:I have to ask another.

A better question is what would happen if deep blue played the current world champion a 24 game tournament. Who would win? My guess is the world champion. That is using the 1997 deep blue. No changes for opening book or endgame database.

What positions have you analyzed that leads you to believe Deep Blue would be weaker?
Do you have a collection of positions that shows the Deep Blue 1997 moves are incorrect based on an increase in eval if we let todays top programs choose a better move? please post the moves.
Which game have you decided is Deep Blues weakest game and why?
Maybe it is just weaker positions Deep Blue played into. Please post these positions. Please with detail.

Re: Deep Blue
We don’t really know how good deep blue was because it played so few games. We can only compare 2 players by comparing their rating. Deep blue didn’t get a rating because it didn’t play enough. Kasparov was playing subpar and it was still a close match. So deep blue was probably a little below the rating of kasparov. Today’s top programs are much stronger than kasparov.
